About Us

Cut The Deck was founded in 2021 by Corey, Ethan, and David. The idea was to build an environment that encourages creative innovation, challenges industry rules, and supports artistic visions; that’s exactly what was built.

We’d love to talk about whatever ideas you may have in mind.

Get in touch with us at contact@cutthedeckcreative.com to get the process started.

Corey Holl

Creative Director

Hey, I’m Corey! I’m 22 and for the last 22 years, my life has been all about creativity. When I joined MGAV (Our school’s A/V Club), I found my favorite outlets: film and design. My passion for making media grew and I eventually became the apprentice for Monona Community Media, where I helped create various videos for the city and overlooked the club’s operations.

I recently graduated UW-Madison where I studied graphic design and film. While there, I got the opportunity to be a graphic designer and manager for a student-run print shop called StudentPrint.

Nowadays when I’m not working at Cut The Deck, I’m writing a few different screenplays and serve at Comedy on State. Art is a huge part of my identity, and I strive to include it in the lives of those around me and myself in every possible way.

Ethan Broughton-Wohlers

Head of Video Production

Hey! I’m Ethan, a twenty-two year-old videographer first, but also a pilot, barista, and general creative. I am a Madison, WI local who enjoys admiring the sights and sounds of the world around me, and Madison is such a great spot for that! The beauty of the world around me has always inspired me as a videographer. Drawing from memories to create more deep connections to the life and people surrounding me ignites my passion to capture the raw story behind the moment in front of my lens.

From high school introductions, to film school, to starting Cut The Deck Creative with my partners, I have loved every part of the creative journey we have endeavored. Collaboration is a big part of our practices here at Cut The Deck, and I get to do so with lifelong friends that are more than just partners.

Someday I hope to use the dynamic pieces of glass to capture even a fraction of what I see through my personal lens everyday. I think that the perspective that I present through my videography has a lot to offer in the grand scheme of our world's growth; not only with what is seen and heard, but in the collaboration and practices that we do here at Cut The Deck.

David Guenthner

Lead Producer

Hey! I’m David a twenty-two year-old living in Madison. Growing up in Cottage Grove, WI, I enjoyed building things, singing, playing outside, and all types of projects that made me think. When entering high school, my brother was in the A/V club and it sounded interesting, so I joined. I fell in love with audio-visual work because of its hands-on approach and endless possibilities. The club inspired me to be the best I could and centered my mind on collaboration.

I recently graduated from UW-Madison with a degree in communication focused on radio, TV, and film. I also am a compounding lab technician at Hoey Apothecary where I constantly keep my brain active. I love board games, talking, and any activity where I can make people smile. People are amazing and I want to collaborate with as many as possible.

Media has immense power in our lives and how we see the world. I want to use my skills and passion to enable all people to harness media to benefit the world. I want to be and spread the change I want to see.
