About Us

Cut The Deck was founded in 2021 by 18-year-olds, Corey Holl, David Guenthner, and Ethan Broughton-Wohlers.The idea was to build an environment that encourages creative innovation, challenges industry rules, and supports artistic visions; that’s exactly what was built.

Over the past five years, we’ve each grown immensely as professionals and as people. Our experience and skills speak for themselves in the quality and efficiency of our productions.

Corey & David graduated from UW-Madison with art and film degrees, meeting some incredible collaborators along the way. Most of which are still some of our best friends.

In 2025, Ethan parted ways with Cut The Deck to align himself with his other passions and journeys in life.

We’d love to talk about whatever ideas you may have in mind.

Get in touch with us at david@cutthedeck.co & corey@cutthedeck.co to get the process started.

Corey Holl

Hey, I’m Corey! I’m 23 and for the last 23 years, my life has been all about creativity. When I joined MGAV (Our school’s A/V Club), I found my favorite outlets: film and design.

My passion for making media grew and I eventually became the apprentice for Monona Community Media, where I helped create various videos for the city and overlooked the club’s operations.

I recently graduated UW-Madison where I studied graphic design and film. While there, I got the opportunity to be a graphic designer and manager for a student-run print shop called StudentPrint.

Nowadays when I’m not working with clients at Cut The Deck, I’m writing screenplays and producing movies for myself and my friends. Art is a huge part of my identity, and I strive to include it in the lives of those around me and myself in every possible way.

David Guenthner

Hey! I’m David a twenty-four year-old living in Madison. Growing up in Cottage Grove, WI, I enjoyed building things, singing, playing outside, and all types of projects that made me think.

When entering high school, my brother was in the A/V club and it sounded interesting, so I joined. I fell in love with audio-visual work because of its hands-on approach and endless possibilities. The club inspired me to be the best I could and centered my mind on collaboration.

I recently graduated from UW-Madison with a degree in communication focused on radio, TV, and film. I also am a compounding lab technician at Hoey Apothecary where I constantly keep my brain active. I love board games, talking, and any activity where I can make people smile. People are amazing and I want to collaborate with as many as possible.

Media has immense power in our lives and how we see the world. I want to use my skills and passion to enable all people to harness media to benefit the world. I want to be and spread the change I want to see.
